We all remember what happened to Princess Diana. And we all know what was the actual cause of that sad and unexpected car accident. Paparazzi who were after Princess Diana pushed way to far into her privacy, which proved fatal. But that wasn’t enough to show us that safety of anyone who is being stalked by paparazzi is in question. What finally burst that bubble is Britney Spears and her recent incidents.

The idea is that certain persons with celebrity status should not be approached by anyone within the distance of 20 yards. That raises some questions about right of the press to facilitate communication of information to the public. But on the other hand, that should be overruled by one simple idea – safety. And it’s not just the safety of a celebrity being stalked, but for all those involved in that manner – paparazzi and public.

Occupation with celebrities, their business and private lives, created an explosion of tabloid shows, gossip stories, magazines which continues to grow in time. Along with that, the paparazzi profession grows as an industry which poisoned amateurs as well to join the ongoing trend.

If “Britney Law” is implemented, paparazzi will lose all their profits from photos being made within 20 yard distance from a celebrity. It will be interesting to see will this law pass. Also, there are some possibilities that celebrities will be able to obtain licenses for extra protection.

This is still a gray area and it all depends on the circumstances that will appear in fron of the court. We will have to wait and see.
