Ultra Portable Computers

Computers, Gadget March 24th, 2008

Ultra portable computer was just a prototype 2 years ago. But since then, a lot of work has been done and now HDPC joins the family of ultra portable computers. Let’s see what’s this electronic beast packed with.

HDPC stands for Hybrid Dual Portable computer and it is filled with specifications you would never even though of. And it will come out on markets in July for unbelievable price of only $500! I’m definitely getting one of these ultra portable computers for myself.

What you will have on this computer is two operating systems, WinXP and Windows CE 5.0 or Linux Qplus if you like it so. The display will be 4 inches wide in a 800×480 resolution. Display itself will be able to slide out and flip so you can use the cellphone interface and wireless internet. Hm, impressive for a portable computer, don’t you think?

Other specifications of this cool new ultra computer is a 1GHz VIA C&M processor that is accompanied with 4GB of DDR2 memory. You will have cellphone radio, of course, and a 60GB hard disk that is only 1.3 inch big. The battery will be something special, not like batteries we have today. It will last for 7 hours or even 90 hours at low power mode.

This little thing enters the ultra portable computers land because of WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, docking port, stereo speakers and a 5 MP digital camera. With DMB mobile television and external GPS add-on it will be really hard to top this magnificent ultra portable computer.

Send SMS And Email With A Pen

Gizmos February 12th, 2008

Old news is the pen that digitally records what you write onto paper. And fresh news is the pen that actually sends out SMS and Emails directly from the pen. Sounds impossible?

You will be able to write a message on any surface, such as paper or a desk, and send it through email or SMS. Of course, you will need Bluetooth to send digital information from the pen to the phone or your PC. You can also enable the option of recording everything you write, so you will have an easy time to write repeating words, like your signature for example.

D:Scribe Digital Pen

D:Scribe will bring in the color in your Emails, something we lack in communication for quite a while. Now we only read computer generated, strict letters in our SMS and Email messages and we can’t see the person behind them. We don’t have any visual or audio signs which can tell us a bit more about the face on the other side. This little pen can change that for better, and I think people will be very creative with it.

Once you receive a message with not only signed signature but the handwriting of the whole message itself, you know there’s a special connection between you and the person you communicate. The signs we use now, such as ;) and :( will reach whole new level with a digital pen.

One more step D:Scribe may be able to take is communication with your home appliances. If they are Bluetooth enabled, you could send them orders and programs with simple pen movements in the air. I know this sounds too Science Fiction, but lets not forget cellular phone was in the same basket. Who would have thought that we would be able to communicate with a small piece plastic and metal wherever we are. Well, soon we will be able to do that with a pen.
