Emirate Airlines Offers Showers

Bizarre, Business, Travel March 25th, 2008

Emirate Airlines will offer in-flight showers for all first-class passengers starting from October 1st. The Emirates will offer this service on the flight New York-Dubai on their A380 airplanes first. If their program ends up being successful, more Emirate Airlines airplanes will have shower cabins.

The idea is to make flying as comfortable as possible, but the cost for that comes in question. You will need to pay $18,000 to have a shower in a Emirate’s A380 airplane. Because other passenger might take a shower in flight too, the airplane needs to carry 1 ton of water. That means, more fuel will be needed for the Emirate Airlines flights and the carbon cost will be around 50,000lbs per trip.

It’s not really nice to see that one shower in mid-flight will do so much damage to environment but nothing can be done about it. Emirate Airlines plans to install shower cabins in all of their high-class airplanes, and that is 50 A380s.

We still can’t see any pictures but the guys who witnessed the development of A380 say the Singapore Airlines front-end suits will be nothing compared to new Emirate airplanes. Their goal is to deliver the experience of Dubai’s “seven-star” Burj Al Arab hotel. It’s hard to imagine they can do that in airplane, but we will see, money is not an issue here.

Emirate Airlines offers showers because people who travel in first class are extremely rich. Richest 18% in Emirates take more then half the flights. The oil wealth made them ask for more and more when it comes to comfortable travel.

Where Is Dubai?

Travel February 4th, 2008

It’s a question that is more and more often in the last ten years. You can hear that name being mentioned here and there but you actually don’t know where is Dubai. You only know it’s a good place to be.

Dubai is only one of the seven emirates that make United Arab Emirates and you can look at it as a independent city-state. Yes, something like Singapore is close enough. It’s one of the most progressive and modern cities not just in the Emirates, but in the world.

Where Is Dubai

The biggest reason of such a development is money of course. To be precise, oil. Try to imagine a state that’s floating on a big chunk of gold, all they need to do is grab down there a little and the budget is more then full for another year. The price of gas in Dubai is equal to the price of one liter of water. The possibilities to build a perfect city are enormous when you have money floating down the streets practically.

One of the things you will notice there is that life is easy on everybody. If you wish to get a job, you’ll find without a problem. Women also work in business and are treated very well. There’s plenty of free time to go mall shopping or try indoor skiing. The life in the Dubai is advanced and superior to most of other city worldwide.

Where Is Dubai?

Dubai is becoming one of most interesting tourists destinations. It’s a problem for lot of people to travel there because of wrong perceptions of where Dubai actually is. Being in the Middle East, it’s considered faraway, exotic but also a dangerous place to be. This now changes and slowly tourists are being attracted to this beautiful city.

Possibly the most interesting thing to see in Dubai is Palm Islands. It’s one of the biggest constructions ever made, a small islands artificially created in the shape of a palm tree. Islands themselves will be capable of admitting 250.00 people, will have many hotels and even a metro!

When you consider that $400 billion worth of tourism projects are expected to be launched by 2010, then you know that this place will be worth visiting. Some of the Dubai’s projects include a public light rail system, an air-conditioned outdoor Universal Studios Dubailand, and Tiger Woods-designed golf course. And when you’re finished with seeing all that, you will then be able to go to rest in newly built underwater hotel.
