Unless you are aware of the benefits that a mattress protector has to offer, you are not likely to have one. Mattress protectors make a worthwhile investment as they provide protection to your bed apart from other benefits. It’s a great accessory to enhance the life of your mattress. A good mattress is nothing short of an investment and any good investment requires some kind of a protection. You may continue with the same mattress for many years if you take good care of it and the best way to do that is to have a mattress protector.

As the name clearly suggests, a mattress protector, while protecting the mattress has additional advantages also. It keeps the sheets on the bed and certainly brings in an extra element of comfort and softness to the bed.

We all like to have a soft and cozy bed. And, there is no doubt that a mattress protector adds to the comfort and softness of a bed. Isn’t that a reason good enough to patronize a mattress protector? The other important reason for including a protector is that it retains the sheets on the bed. You won’t any more get disturbed by the sheets getting folded at the edges while sleeping. We have all experienced that the sheets on bed tend to get pulled off the corners of the bed, and that’s not a pleasant experience. The sheets won’t get curled up at the edges if you provide a mattress protector on the bed.

Now, you can sleep comfortably without any fear of being woken up in the middle of the night by a disheveled sheet or its being thrown out of the bed on the floor. All this comes in addition to protecting your mattress, the primary reason for having one. Mattresses are expensive and one can’t afford to replace them all too often. It’s wiser to protect the one you have and derive the most out of it. It’s an investment worth making.

Having known the benefits of including a mattress protector, you have to go and get one for you. You should be aware that mattress protectors are made from a variety of fabrics for different reasons. Do read the label to know its composition, before buying one.

Kid’s Corner Bookcase

Home September 23rd, 2009

A child’s room with warm bright colors and cozy furniture is conducing to giving it a pleasant disposition and a positive attitude towards life. The room should be large enough to provide some running around with storage facilities for keeping toys and clothes off the ground. Fun and excitement associated with a child’s room is easy to come by if it’s clean and devoid of clutter for easy maintenance. One of the few items that help to take care of a growing child’s ever increasing needs is a bookcase.

One of the prized possessions of my child is a corner bookcase in white color. Generally, her room has most of the items in white. The frame of her bed is white as is her small corner bookcase. The bedspread in her room is in snow white shade, again almost white. You must be wondering doesn’t all that white brings in the impression of a hospital room! No it doesn’t, it gives a homely feeling and above all she just loves it and that matters the most.

One day we realized that she loves to read and had gradually developed a small collection of nice books, which varied from fairy tale stories to detective novels of the kind of Harriett the Spy. But there was no space for those books in the bookcase in the main living room, and we decided it was time to get her a separate bookcase.

Going out with a child to buy a piece of furniture for its exclusively being used by the child may be a great experience. It’s a kind of fun that establishes a new everlasting bond between the two of you. My daughter came along with me to choose a bookcase of her choice. She made me accompany her to view row upon row of these pieces, some of mahogany and others of oak, till she finally decided to opt for a cute little bookcase in white color. Now she has decorated it with all sorts of stickers and of course her creativity in colored pens and pencils. That’s her way of getting a personalized look!

Come to think of it, bookcases are quite easy to assemble and can be made more presentable by putting in a bit of extra care and effort. I think it’s more a matter of attitude. Going out with your child to procure an item of its choice is more of an experience than just shopping. Here, you get an excellent opportunity not only for interacting and educating your child but getting educated yourself of a growing child’s personality. You may be pleasantly surprised or even amazed at some of the observations and petty decisions of a child.

Finally, you buy your daughter a bookcase of her choice, which will decidedly be different than the choice of your son, who yet wouldn’t mind extending you a helping hand in anticipation of being awarded with a bookcase or another item that he might have been longing for quite a while!
